ARCHDIOCESAN SAFE ENVIRONMENT
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES TRAINING EVENTS
The Office for the Protection of Children and Youth (OPCY) will host Safe Environment Policies and Procedures Training sessions for all Safe Environment Coordinators, new principals and new DREs this fall. Attendance is required in order to obtain Pace and Prism credit. If the Safe Environment Coordinator cannot attend, someone at your site with OPCY responsibilities should attend.
Due to the recent USCCB on-site audit, court proceedings, and upcoming changes to Safe Environment procedures for the Archdiocese, the regular Fall OPCY Orientation will be replaced this year with a required and expanded training. The 2016 OPCY Resource Book will be distributed. Please bring a laptop for on-line interface training, and secure your user ID and password prior to the event so you will have ready access to the VIRTUS site. Topics covered will include:
o Overview of the Charter and Archdiocesan documents
o Overview of both adult training and youth curricula changes
o Mandatory Reporting training & tracking
o Changes to audit-related procedures
o On-line VIRTUS interface training
o Code of Conduct training & tracking
o Ramsey County Settlement requirements
o Parish/school site visits
The same content will be delivered in each session, so please select the date and site that works best for you. Light refreshments will be served. Required for Pace and Prism Program for 2016 – 2017. Administrator CEUs are available. Seating is limited at each location, please register accordingly and limit attendance to 2 staff members per site. Walk-ins will be seated as space allows.
